The only advice I can give here to get through this scenario is to communicate with the tenants every now and then. I firmly believe that when you craft a clear-cut lease agreement that details everything, you save your and your tenants’ time. This happens when you have explicit terms, have done your legal review through a professional, and are transparent.

Finally, I’ve seen these leases extend for multiple years after the initial agreement. This happens because of effective communication and taking steps to coordinate activities between you and your tenant.

Be willing to listen to the other party and create a working relationship with each other. Because then you won’t have an ordinary “landlord-tenant relationship”, you’ll become like friends. I’ve seen it work more times than I can remember, and I love it every single time.
